Sandra Combat is at the helm of her family's Croze Hermitage vineyard in the heart of the appellation. She farms organically and biodynamically with an absolute focus on the soil. She is part of a new generation who are producing wines of exceptional quality, character and personality while continually looking to the future. One to watch!
The Combat family have been in the region since the very beginning of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation - and 27 year old Sandra Combat is making impressive strides with her glorious vintage made from three small plots at the foot of Mercurol using low-intervention, natural farming.
The vines are trained to the great height of 2m in order to capture the light and hard debuting is carried out to guarantee the best aeration as well as stripping in early September to optimise the maturity of the grape.
Unusually this wine is made from 100% Marsanne grapes - with no added varieties - which provides exceptional minerality and body to this highly regarded vintage.
Lively gold yellow colour with lots of ripe apples, pears and white peach on the nose - plenty of minerality and hints of spice on the palate with a clean, fresh finish. Good mouthfeel, plenty of body and long finish. Elegance & harmony from this prestigious winery.
