The nose displays vibrant citrus and white floral aromas with lively acidity on the palate and bright citrus and stone fruit flavours on the palate.
The vineyards are located outside of the Picpoul appellation, which is why the spelling of the 'Picpoul' grape is the alternative spelling 'Piquepoul'.
Caves de Richemer lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the sea lagoon Lagune de Thau on the coast of the Southern Languedoc. The name Richemer stems from 19th century tales of a modest winegrower, Henri Richet, who so quickly made his fortune in trading wines from the old port of Marseillan, that people gave him the nickname ‘Henri de Richemer’. The seahorse on the label is the emblem of Caves de Richemer and is native to the lagoon.
Food pairing: In general, Picpoul pairs well with oysters, other lighter seafoods, and some cream-based dishes where the acid serves as the perfect counterfoil to the tongue-coating creaminess.
This wine is pale lemon in colour with a youthful rim. On the nose, it has aromas of citrus fruit, grapefruit, lemon and lime, and floral notes. On the palate, it has attractive weight, with a good balance of zesty acidity and minerality, as well as a touch of saltiness on the finish. 100 % Picpoul.
