Justin Bridou was created in 1978 by the Aosta group, itself owned by the American multinational Smithfield Foods.

In May 2013, the Chinese group WH Group bought Aosta (and therefore Justin Bridou, Cochonou or even Jean Caby) for 7.1 billion dollars. Jean Feppon, inhabitant of Rumilly, gave his image to Justin Bridou in 1978.

He died on January 20, 2017 at the age of 89 in the same city. The fictional character Justin Bridou is represented by the popular French stereotype: mustache, sweater and beret. In 1999 and 2000, the Justin Bridou brand was a sponsor of the Fort Boyard television show, and it becomes the main sponsor of the Stade Français Paris rugby in 2020.All the flavour of the original Bâton de Berger recipe.
