Le Petit Marseillais - milk shower gel, 250ml

£3.95

Le Petit Marseillais soaps were launched in 1982 by Bernard Lengellé, a former journalist at the Libéré Dauphiné. Their name takes that of an old Provencal daily, Le Petit Marseillais, and evokes Marseille soap. Lengellé first markets its soap in pharmacies in Vaucluse.

Three years later, in 1985, the brand was bought for 100,000 francs by Laboratoires Vendôme, a family-owned parapharmaceutical company in Dijon founded in 1981, which then sought to diversify into hygiene products. Launched in 1986 in French supermarkets, it took over 5% of the market, before launching into shower products in the early 1990s and shampoos in 20001.

In 2005, the Le Petit Marseillais brand was the leader in the French market for washing products (liquid and solid soaps, shower gels and bath products) with a 15.7% market share. The Vendôme laboratories were bought out in 2006 by Johnson & Johnson and Le Petit Marseillais therefore came under the control of the American multinational.

In 2017, Johnson & Johnson announced the launch of a new facial treatment under the brand le petit Marseillais.

From June 16, 2017 to July 8, 2017, the brand moved into the Parisian store "La Pause Ensoleillée".
